our team
noto is designed and manufactured by our small team based in Melbourne.
Every journal we produce is hand-cut, hand-dyed, and assembled in our workshop. The process is slow, deliberate, and personal. We shape each cover from full-grain vegetable-tanned leather, mix our own dyes, and finish each edge by hand.
Our inserts are cut, folded, and bound with care to fit seamlessly into every cover.
We work this way because we believe in craft. In an age of mass production, we value materials that endure and processes that take time. Making each piece by hand allows us to see and feel every stage of the work.
So when you pick up a noto journal, you’re holding something real, made by people who care about every detail. Our goal is to create tools that carry meaning and grow more beautiful with age.
Being based in Melbourne keeps us connected to our materials and community. Our leather comes from local suppliers, and we collaborate with nearby artists, printers, and creators who share our respect and creativity. These collaborations help us refine what we make, making sure we test ideas with the people who actually use our notebooks.
Their insight shapes our design choices, helping us create notebooks that feel natural in both function and form.
At its core, noto is about connection. Between us, the material, and you. Our work is not just about making notebooks; it’s about creating something that will grow alongside you.
